Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

Suggestion
I found I would use the power at times just because it was there and it would probably only be a matter of time before I ended up banned or in a field if I owned one.
Leading evidence: 'Use power at times just' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use power at times just' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I noted last week that I'm thinking of selling my 2002 tip Turbo with very low miles and the comments to my post were encouraging and informative.
The Porsche will be advertised soon but I have a question on whether anyone has gone from a turbo to a non-turbo? whilst i'm not using the turbo anywhere near as much as I should I think the reason is that its such a nice example, I've fallen into the 'too precious to use it' trap which is not why we have such cars.
Would a C4S be a disappointment? if not is the Turbo something a C4S (or similar) owner would want to trade up to? I suspect its a case of put it out there and see but thought I'd ask the diverse forum associates...
My own view is that the 4S looks great, will feel just like the turbo inside, will sound better, and 99% of the time will be as fast as you need.
It won't if course have the Mezger.
Put another way, I've never felt any desire to go from a 4S to a turbo, given the extra outlay.
Turbo to C4S
My licence was grateful!
Every trip in the turbo....every gentle stab of the throttle put me into silly speed territory...ended driving almost everywhere on cruise...
Losing over 90 bhp from a pretty identical car would be quite noticeable so in terms of outright performance it would be a big disappointment.
That said, if you don't drive your 911 much and want something equally (or, arguably, more) beautiful you may be happy especially as you'd have some extra £££s in the bank.
Some people prefer the way a normally aspirated car drives and/or sounds, so may ever aspire to a turbo car, whilst others would love to make the jump one day.
In your position I'd have a decent drive in a C4S before selling the 996T.
I had a loan of a turbo for 3 weeks before I picked up my C4 (not even an S). Not the same as owning it but long enough to form an opinion.
The turbo did feel more special to drive around in but that was more to do with the looks than anything to do with the driving experience. I actually found the turbo far too quick. I found I would use the power at times just because it was there and it would probably only be a matter of time before I ended up banned or in a field if I owned one. By comparison the C4 feels slow, the upsides are that it's far more responsive (surprised how laggy the turbo was) and it's got a much more useable power range, I feel like I'm enjoying more of what the car has to offer more of the time. The c4 also sounds MILES better than the turbo. I really hated the sound of the turbo. It was like a Dyson hand dryer.
I'd echo this but it will be the torque you will miss even more. The other issue is adding in engine reliability, I just see the potential of even bigger bills to crop up
Laggy? Have you driven anything turbo from the 80s? I find my 996t to be incredibly responsive considering it's aspiration tendencies, it's all about knowing where the power lies and how to exploit it, stupidly quick when driven irresponsibly.
(I also own a Cossie, you can measure the lag on a sun dial).

Say you sell the Turbo and buy a C4S, in the process banking £20k.
If the C4S engine did ever let go you'd need to spend £12k on a rebuild, so you'd have done all that to bank £8k.
Your then £32k/£35k C4S would still only be worth £22k/£25k. Seems like a massive backwards step that includes a fair bit of risk.
I'd stick, or sell and not have anything in the garage. :thumb:
Have looked at this from the (completely irrational) opposite position - do I need anything quicker than the car I've got - no, will it put me (closer) to, pretty much, as fast as you can drive on our roads (sic) - probably not, will it give me (again, pretty much) the most amazing driving experience I can buy for 'reasonable' money - maybe? - and, most important of all, will it have 'ticked a box' or 'scratched an itch', - probably, yes.
Having managed to acquire a 911 and achieve a teenage dream, I'm still hankering for a Turbo, just so I can satisfy myself that I've 'done' it - whether it would meet my expectations and be that much more special, I don't know.
Probably only those few individuals who have been fortunate enough to have owned both could give a completely unbiased view.
My two-penneth ramble!
The only thing that wants me to get a 'better' 911 is something faster, which (for a cab lover) equates to a turbo. Guess the speed thing mostly boils down to where you live. No hassle where I live if you wanna give it the beans on the occasional drive.
