It's probably the excess heat from the PDK transmission causing some line to melt and start a fire, wouldn't happen with a manual...

Well I'm sure they will sort it out eventually, but for all those marketing slick videos about how the GT3 is the greatest GT3 ever, catching fire isn't really a new feature I would want as an owner...

I surrendered my car to Porsche dealer last Thursday. And got a Panorama 4S as a loaner So far it appears few cars are effected but until Porsche announces the final findings, all cars are quarantined for liability and safety reasons. Porsche is not taking any chances. All indications point to a thrown rod that went through the crankcase and caused the fire. Porsche released a letter indicating sever crankcase damage was found on the cars that caught fire. Will give you an update if I hear more.

:helpme: Fires caused by throwing a rod on multiple engines! :wall: Not just a fuel leak or an errant spark as I expected. I think it's just a rumor for now, but they sometimes do have merit.
