Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any idea's what option 408 would be on a 99 C2? It's the only one I haven't been able to figure out for my car. 408 shows as 18 inch wheels on earlier models but mine has 17's. Unless some bugger swapped them before I got the car. Now that would be annoying. How about a source for a wiring diagram? Is the $$$ factory manual set the only way to get one? I still need to troubleshoot my alarm system. Other than confirming that the hood and engine lid switches are doing what they should it's a bit awkward to do much without a schematic. Anyone know where the alarm module is? I suppose there's a chance I may be able to figure things out just by looking at it and making some simple measurements. I like to think of myself as a hands on sort off car owner so feel a bit lost not having (yet!) as much info as I would like on the 996. Many thanks Colin

I think you can get wiring diagrams with a subscription to alldata.com.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the replies. I had thought of Alldata and Mitchel and have word out to a contact who may be able to get me a print. However, previous experience (with a 928 b4 I got the manuals) suggests that their Porsche data base may not be as good as it is for domestics. Anyone know where the alarm module is before I start pulling things apart looking for it? As for the wheels, damn. My son now suggests I have good excuse to get 18's. I wonder if he'll pay for them? Colin

POST 5Original post

The alarm module is under the driver's seat. Karl

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well that's handy (I suppose) because I have to pull that seat anyway as the up down isn't working. Feeling around under there it feels like a cable (sport seats) has come adrift. Thanks Colin
