Of course GM sent them the cheapest and Porsche the most expensive car in the press fleet lol...
Let's see, and at the Petit Le Mans last October Porsche won their class and Corvette finished, where? And, this past weekend's Rolex, Porsche won and Corvette finished several positions off the podium both using the newest offerings. Corvette had several mechanical issues and Porsche did not. Just saying..................
The 991 based 911RSR was running in last years WEC, so it is not new. It is only new to North America.
For last years Petit, they were both end of life models.
Shocking revelation, the $100K car is a bit better than the 60k car!!!! Don't get me wrong, I love my 991CS but I have to admit that the Corvette is a lot of car for the money and that the differences are so subtle that they wouldn't matter to 99.9% of the drivers today. GM has done a great job with the new Corvette and the performance is incredible at that price. The styling isn't necessarily for me but that's a subjective opinion. I'm not sure how many buyers cross shop these brands but I have to admit that GM has come a long way.
I think it's worse than that. Didn't Chris say it had $60K worth of options?
I would like to see a base 911 tested for once. It seems that porsche always supplies the S.
Dollar for dollar Chevrolet should supply a Z06 when it's released. The 911 S wouldn't stand a chance performance wise.
They are different cars though and we're lucky to have the choice.
Sorry Chris...I'm not buying it. The video is unequivocal that the 991 is in a different league than the C7 in terms of sophistication and engineering, and it's just the price differential that's hard to swallow. OK, let's level the cost playing field: compare a 3- or 4-year-old 997.2 to the C7 FOR THE SAME MONEY, and which one comes out on top? I'd take a 2010 911 (or thereabouts, depending on the version and options) over a new Corvette any day.
