Needless to say i'm stoked! Any advice for a newbie such as myself? (This is my first ever Porsche purchase!) I'm anxious to start learning about this car and truly make it my own. I plan on doing a few modifications immediately and I had a few questions:
1. I would like to change out the PCM module and replace with with an aftermarket NAV unit. Any recommendations on a good replacement? Looking for all the latest features (Bluetooth streaming, phone, nav, backup camera, etc..)
2. Any good reputable sites for quality aftermarket Porsche parts?
3. Anyone have any recommendations for good Porsche mechanics in the Houston area?
Again, any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated. Really looking forward to driving this bad boy!
Nice! Welcome!

Many have replaced the stock Radio with aftermarket - you need a special adaptor to integrate with the car's data system.
Look to he sponsors here for parts - depending on what you want! You can look at:
More power?
Better handling?
Custom body kits?
Interior upgrades?
Lighting?
Wheels and tires?
Maintenance questions?
Strengths and weaknesses of the car?
Driving skills-driver training?
Also look at joining your local PCA for local recommendations on service.
And, find a local "cars and coffee" gathering and meet some car guys
Have fun!
Congratulations, you will love the 997, such a classic design. No answer to replacing your PCM, I rarely used mine, too busy enjoying the drive. What aftermarket parts are you looking to buy? I get a lot of parts from Suncoast.
Not sure replacing the PCM would be worth it. It might be hard to find the fit/finish/function that matches the factory in an aftermarket. I found everything I wanted by adding a Dension Gateway as a bluetooth iPhone interface and iPod connection, thus keeping the factory look and function. I actually think the functional buttons on the radio work really well in that you can easily operate the sound system without taking your eyes off the road. Typically, aftermarket systems aren't as well thought out.
Good luck whatever way you end up...you will love the car more every day you drive it!
