Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I'm considering replacing my comfort, full electric and memory seats with the 997GT2 buckets. Since I use the back seats (my kids do) I can't consider a non folding bucket design. So, the issue is my local Porsche Centre says "no way, Porsche doesn't let us do that". I can install them myself, but I need someone to sell them to me Does anybody know of a supplier in Europe? I can get a pair in the US, but freight and import tax may be prohibitive.

POST 2Original post

I know that they are made by Carbotech in Salzburg, as I have been to the factory. But that probably doesn't help you much. http://www.carbon.at/index.php

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, it's nice to know, but not much to the point

POST 4Original post

Might be worth a chat / e-mail to this outfit http://www.suncoastparts.com/ They seem to be highly regarded in the US and i've heard of many UK owners also ordering goods from them. It may be possible for them to ship straight to the UK from their source in Germany. HTH. C.

POST 5Original post

No maybe not, but it might be worth giving them a call to see if there are any european distributors. It seems crazy that thez get shipped from Germany to the US, back to Europe again. Unless the ones in the US are not OEM ones.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, I have inquired them previously and they are willing, but as I said, freight and customs duties.... :eh!:  And as eazlth said, transatlantic ping pong doesn't make any sense. Previously, I thought they were made in US by Lear (I read someone saying this somewhere) but if they're made in Austria then paying for duties and freight twice is just stupid and expensive. They are gorgeous though.... :thumb:

POST 7Original post

What about these for a fraction of the cost... http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod4919/Track-Bucket-Sports-Seat---DTX-RECLINE/ :dont know:

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, I have seen those, as well as some Recaros that also fold forward. BUT, have the DTXs ever been crash tested in a Porsche....... Or even the Recaros for that matter. Safety is paramount to me, as well as, I have to admit, the Porsche brand and reassurance

POST 9Original post

Vivid Racing Uk have them advertised on their web site. You will find them under Porsche Parts on this site. http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/...ucket-seat-set-porsche-997-tt-07-p-57583.html

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks! I will investigate further even if the seats appear to also be in the US (ping pong across the pond again) and more expensive than Suncoast's.

POST 11Original post

Looks like Canewal do them: http://www.carnewal-europe.com/main.htm
