I dont know why our garages dont suggest changing the bolts every 3 years, before they rust.

I've actually put some of these smaller jobs off for now because when you get down to costs it is horrendous. The old exhaust manaifold bolts needing replacement seems a favourite...

I remember your post and the terrible time you had. Good that it's all over.
I spoke to the Indie today and he is comfortable with the job.
He understands they are very badly corroded.
I've put this off too long and there is a pair of stainless manifolds in my dining room so I have to do this. looking at my cast set the bin is really the only place for them. They are as bad as the bolts in places.

This is a new Indie to me, not my usual one so we'll see how we fair.
I had a new gasket put on my exhaust manifold, which involved drilling out 5 of the rusted bolts. Took my indie c.9hrs he reckoned (for one side only!), he charged me for 7. This was 5 weeks before I sold the car, so I was glad to have this expense... Good luck - I hope your indie gets it done nice and quickly. I dont know why our garages dont suggest changing the bolts every 3 years, before they rust. Would save cash in the long run.

Q: Do indies take out the engine to do this?
Q: Did I see something on here ref some sort of wierd electro mechanical extraction for exhaust bolts if it all goes wrong??
Who's doing it? PM me if you prefer. I think mine need done but I'm going to hold off till I get a new zorst and get everything done at the one time I think.
