Anybody here actually had the JL Stealthbox in their
Cayman
besides for the guy who volunteered his car for the prototype for JL?
If so, what were your impressions?
i'll be able to tell you in about 4 weeks, i've got one coming from JL in the states, due to arrive at Celsus (jl distributer in the uk) towards the end of April. I had the JL 13tw5 in my
Audi
TT custom install and was very happy with it. JL stealthboxes always seem to get even better bass than my humble efforts, so hoping for good things. (

Did you get the JL Stealthbox installed in your
Porsche
, Wellhouse? Would love to see the pics and get an idea of $$$ it took....
Pictures as promised, it's actually shallower than it looks in the pics, excellent fit and doesn't take much of the boot space at all. I fitted a wooden ring inside the sub box under the place where the speaker mounts as i wasn't too convinced by the screws into the fibreglass holding the speaker into the sub box. The speaker is now well and truly secure! Excellent sub and the box is shaped so you can still get to the oil/water flap.
That looks awesome! If it sounds half as good as it looks, it's a winner. Thanks for posting.
I'd be in for one of those (yes, in a
GT4
). What can I say - I'm all about the bass.
My preference would be to stretch a piece of acoustically-transparent cloth over the woofer in order to stealth the install a bit more.
I like my bass and love this upgrade to the
bose system
. I'm leaving the rest of the speakers - it sounds great now (to me that is!)
To be honest with the boot (trunk?) closed you can't see it, but i have replaced the
porsche
solid trim that hides the boot space with acoustic cloth. Probably not necessary but i think it helps the sub breath (in my mind anyway)
i reckon you could do the install for about $1000 if you wanted to depending on what amp you use. (less if secondhand). You can probably see i take my bass seriously from the install i did on my TT. Needless to say i spent a bit more! I ended up using an Audison bit one and DRC to have better control over time alignment/frequencies and a hertz hdp1 amp. Electronics are mounted in the front boot where there is an access panel and space in front of the
battery
. (i think this is where the auto changer/nav was mounted in the mk1) Very pleased with the finished result. Capable of more bass than i'll ever need!
Interesting.
Definitely something that I'm looking at doing down the line.
If you look for an idea how to integrate an nice Subwoofer in the rear trunk without ocupying the whole space, you might have a look in my audio project documented on my homepage. The description is in German but many, many photos show all details and most things are selfexplanatory. If you have any questions, just let me know
