Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, went to get in the car this morning and when I tried to open the driver door using the handle (from the outside) the window dropped the normal 5mm (its a coupe) but it didn't activate the door latch? And I couldn't open the door. Can enter the car from the passenger side and open the drivers door OK from the inside using the inner door handle though. Is this a microswitch problem? Have searched and found several posts concerning windows not dropping properly - but not this exact same fault. If it is microswitch anyone know parts needed to do job, door membranes , plastic trim poppers etc.. required - as I am not adverse to a bit of spanner work!

POST 2Original post

No, it isn't a microswitch problem, because the window drops. The problem is the link between the handle and lock. (Item 9/12). It breaks or becomes disconnected. As a temporary measure to get in from the driver's side, hold the button on the remote when you unlock the car and the window will drop. (Or keep the key turned to the unlock position). Then you can reach in and undo it with the inside handle. Here's a couple of other threads with the same problem: http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=49285 http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=43354

My cabby does the same thing now and then, try gently pushing with the palm of your hand just below the handle on the door, I hear a click and the door then opens ok, me thinks I have a sticky mechanism.
