Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Those of you who do lower mileage in your cars, what do you do regarding service intervals? Do you stick to the 12 months even if you've only done 6000 miles or do you wait until you've done the 12000 (2years) Thanks

POST 2Original post

I personally will have the service done as per schedule i.e. mileage or time, whichever comes first.

POST 3Original post

Dave's advice is certainly what you'd get from the Indies, even on 2004MY cars which officially have a 2yr servicing interval.

POST 4Original post

I normally average 6k miles per year and will be servicing mine yearly.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Full service OK thanks for the info, wasn't sure if people just did an interim oil service if mileage wasn't met.

POST 6Original post

With my 993... I just serviced it based on Mileage (not time), otherwise it would have been at the garage every 5,000km. 800km of which was the return trip to the Dealership... I think the Turbo I'll do on time thoe as I anticipate doing a few more miles a year in it...

POST 7Original post

I was chatting to my mechanic about this very issue. My 2002 facelift has around 60K on the clock. Had an annual service after another 9.5K this year. Although the oil was not that bad apparently the oil coming from cars running for two years is black like treacle! Now Im no hydrocarbons expert but oil is there to lubricate and relies on being able to coat all parts that it comes in contact with. So although my oil was not totally thrashed I will be changing mine every 5K from now on to make sure the engine has the best possible chance of a long life, service will remain as the book recommends but with the extra lube change at 6months. I would never let the service intervals slip> Regards M :thumb:
