Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I would suggest checking the connector first, as it is easy to get at.
Leading evidence: 'Check connector first, as it is easy' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check connector first, as it is easy' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Or you could check the main rear lid connector for corrosion on the pins.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Occasionally the spoiler on my yr 2000 C2 fails to return to "closed" and will stay up until I stop the car and take out the ignition key then restart the car and exceed 36mph, it will then close once back to 36mph as it should. Any ideas?
ta!
Occasionally happens to mine. I though I may have inadvertently hit the manual button on the wheel arch foot-well with my foot.
I guess with your moniker that wont be a problem for you!
May be a dodgy microswitch. There is one to tell the system it is up, and one to tell the system it is down. If you aren't getting a fault light, I expect it is the 'down' switch which may be sticking.
Or a dodgy relay.
Or you could check the main rear lid connector for corrosion on the pins.
I don't know exactly where it is located, but I think it is on one of the spoiler hinges (not the lid hinge). It is a 3-switch unit - apart from the two switches for the spoiler up/down positions, it has one to activate the spoiler brake light when the spoiler is up. The switch has 5 wires going to it, which might help locate it.
I would suggest checking the connector first, as it is easy to get at. The connections sometimes corrode. Then I would try swapping the two spoiler relays (on the relay panel under the carpet behind the rear seats). If the spoiler then occasionally sticks down, instead of up, then you know the relay is at fault.
Being an intermittent fault, it might be difficult to track down.
Here's a pic of the mechanism, showing the switches? next to the motor.
Don't seem to be able to get access to them without removing the entire winding mecahanism.

Here is the spoiler wiring. It shows the 3 switches all in one, but they might be separate. Perhaps you can locate the appropriate switch from the wire colours.

Clarkson did say that the C4S was the mock tudor house of the 911 range, so maybe its the faux leaded window that is catching your eye!? :nooo: :coat:
