Could well be the fuel pump priming up as noise occurs even before the engine starts while I'm waiting for the oil check coundown to occur

Been using my 2003 carrera 4 manual as a daily driver for the last 4 months and admit that usually I come off the motorway 1 or 2 junctions early for a bit of a blast on some quiet A roads.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A relative newbie to the 911 experience and loving it. Been using my 2003 carrera 4 manual as a daily driver for the last 4 months and admit that usually I come off the motorway 1 or 2 junctions early for a bit of a blast on some quiet A roads. About to replace the rears with new N rated 285/30x 18 Bridgestones. Any comment on these tyres and amount of wear I should get. The front also Bridgestones with 6 mm left. Since new the car when it is cold i.e less than 2-3 degrees will make a franctic tick..tick noise when you first turn on the ignition. It lasts for 5 seconds sounding like a demented alarm clock ticking. noise comes from behind the temperature/AC control. My lovely wife has also given me as a pressie for my birthday a youdrive@porsche experience. Does anybody have any comment on what these are like. I intend to take the car on some track days later in the summer. Have done some before on a previous car a Subaru WRX and hope to have as much fun in the 911

POST 2Original post

The ticking noise sounds like it could be the fuel pump priming up which I beleive is normal

POST 5Original post

I organised a group of PCGB forum members on the very first youdrive course last October. It was great fun, and I'm sure you will enjoy it. A bit too much theory, and not enough practice, but it isn't bad value in Porsche terms. The highlight of my day was having lunch with Vicki Butler-Henderson. She is just lovely, very chatty, and good fun. It made my day (month, and year). Edit: I should read more carefully. Deleted my mistaken diagnosis!

POST 7Original post
