Having replaced the Pirelli's with Pilot Sport 2's as recommended by the forum (they are amazing!) , the next job is to take the car to the OPC in Leeds for realignment.

I'm not sure that they were ok when I bought the car last September (I know I should have checked) but better safe than sorry.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Took the car in for its MOT on Saturday and thankfully passed with flying colours. However noticed that the rear tyres were wearing heavily on their insides whilst outsides were fine. Anyone know if this needs a 4 wheel alignment check or can the local tyre place sort this out. Car is 911 C4. Any advice apreciated.

POST 2Original post

Probably too much negative camber, or some toe out on the rear (not good). If you haven't had it checked, then a GOOD tyre place with modern equipment should be able to sort it out. Personally, I reckon you should check it every two years. A few Porsche indies have the right gear, but not many. Where are you located? Someone might have a recommendation. (Cue 100 raves about Chris Franklin at CG)

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Located in Billericay, Essex. Nearest indy is I believe Autostrasse although never used them. Other than that its probably a trip round the M25 to JAZ or JZM.

POST 4Original post

What's the ball park figure for a four wheel alignment??

POST 5Original post

I'm having my 993 done next week. Ball park of 4 hrs labour.

POST 6Original post

The 996 needs a couple of hours to check and adjust if necessary. You are looking between £50-100 usually.

POST 7Original post

UNEVEN TYRE WEAR Hi there, I have a C4s and the inner fronts were worn , necessitating new tyres, and a geometry set up AFTER tyre replacements. Having replaced the Pirelli's with Pilot Sport 2's as recommended by the forum (they are amazing!) , the next job is to take the car to the OPC in Leeds for realignment. They have quoted 185 quid all inclusive (apparently includes the 15% discount for Porsche Club members). I had my old 3.2 Carrera done once and the drive out, after the geo set-up, was superb. It transforms the car's feel. Good luck!

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys, may not be too severe then. I'm not sure that they were ok when I bought the car last September (I know I should have checked) but better safe than sorry.
