Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'door microswitch' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'door microswitch' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace but it means removing the door trim' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i finished washing the car and started it and held the window switch in the up position for 10/15 seconds and it worked =-) i opened and closed the door a couple of times and the switch worked fine.
hi guys
i went out today to give the car a long awaited wash after the snowy period and while washing it the alarm goes off!! i run in to the house and get the fob and press it....the alarm stopped and the horn sounded once.
now i know from the past that that means that a door or window or cubby hole/box is open.
low and behold the microswitch must have activated while i was washing it, and dropped the window to its usual 10mm or however much it drops by, which must have sounded the alarm leaving the interior door lights permanently on!! i took the bulbs out so that it wouldnt drain the battery.
i finished washing the car and started it and held the window switch in the up position for 10/15 seconds and it worked =-) i opened and closed the door a couple of times and the switch worked fine. however as soon as i switched it off and got out it stayed down =-( i tried the same procedure but nothing!! is my switch gone or could it be a fuse?? the passenger one is fine, so unless theres a fuse for each door it must be the switch?
any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

its probably the door microswitch that is faulty. This is a relatively common occurrence. They are not expensive to replace but it means removing the door trim. Someone with a Durametric/PST/PIWIS should be able to pinpoint the fault. If after replacing the microswitch it still plays up, have a look at the loom as recently in a 997, everything was working fine except the door window wouldn't drop when the door handle was pulled. The PIWIS identified the microswitch and it was indeed faulty. After replacing the microswitch there was still no joy and out came the continuity meter and it turned out that one of the wires going to the microswitch had also fractured internally. This happened after the frost as well.
