The dealer said if the battery was dead, after jump starting and recharging it, the dealer had to reset certain things ... what has to be done and how soon does it need to be done

My car is a 2014 981 and in the owners manual there is a section that tells you what to do to reset things if the battery is completely dead. I would check the owners manual real good before I took it to the dealer. In the 981 there is a section under Battery Care called "Procedure After Connection".

I've disconnected my battery for a number of reasons. Also had a dead one. Let's see - reset the clock. Might need to reset/calibrate the window closure (raise the windows up all the way and hold the switch up for 5-10 seconds). That's about it. Ignore any errors on the dash til you've driven a few 100 yds. Dealer like to make it sound like an aborted launch at Cape Kennedy - but it isn't rocket science.
