Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

my 03 carrera has a groaning from the inner roof when backing out of my driveway or going over speed bumps..it sounds like the headliner is being flexed...anyone dealt with this??

POST 2Original post

I had the same thing on my '03. It sounded like it was coming from the headliner just behind the sunroof. If I opened the sunroof it stopped. Mine sounded like the body was flexing, causing a creaking/groaning sound. The dealer "regreased the sunroof" and it fixed the problem.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

really? it does sound like the whole car flexing you are right

POST 4Original post

There's an issue with a stabilizer bar coming loose on almost all 996's with a sunroof. There's a TSB for it, and it's an easy fix for the dealer. The symptoms are a rattle over bumps or even when cruising. If you hear groaning as in body flex (such as when going up a driveway at an angle as to not scratch the spoiler) then it's body flex and there's nothing to do about it.
