Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Before I get bashed, I have researched threads! Haha. Anyways, last week we got some severe rain in southern VA, I'm from the Bay Area so the cars always been garaged and never really saw rain, at least not heavy. My cars been sitting on ramps outside while I troubleshoot it's shifting problem and I went to start it the other day, it cranks but won't turn over. I opened the frunk and found an inch or two of water, took a shop vac to it, and then removed the rain tray area and discovered water sitting only in the battery tray. All of the plugs are clog-free as well. So I've let everything dry out and still no luck. Any thoughts on this? By the way, the interior did not get wet (or the module under the seat) and all of my electronics work perfect. Shifting problem: tried to put car into gear and it popped out of the linkage/bushing? Put it back together and the car won't shift with the motor on, but will when it's off. Guessing a clutch/IMS is in order? But hoping not at this moment. If anybody knows somebody with knowledge in the Southern VA, Northern NC area let me know! I'm located near Lake Gaston Thank you! -Matt

POST 2Original post

check to see if you had water under the drivers front seat -- that is where the immobilizer resides. your water collection trays may have been over whelmed -- or maybe they are damaged and water ran behind your rear carpet and under the seats. m

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the reply. Drains are clog free and nothing under the seat felt wet, I guess I'll pull out the drivers seat so I can get a better look at it!

POST 4Original post

Fuel or ignition issue since the engine cranks but will not catch. Did you check all the fuses? Fuel pump relay has be known to be flakey, above the Fuses. Open the engine compartment and listen for the fuel pump coming on. Without some additional diagnostic info it could be a lot of different things. Shifting, doubt its the IMS or clutch, perhaps shift linkage at the transmission or in the shift console.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the reply man! I'll give all of those a check today. And I inspected what I'm positive is the linkage at the transmission and all seemed fine but I'll go back over it. And I wasn't meaning it's the IMS, but if it needs a clutch I'll def be doing the IMS while I'm down there. Hopefully the not starting is just a blown fuse haha

POST 6Original post

Did you pull the battery tray? The fuel tank access is under the battery tray could you have gotten water in the plug for the fuel pump?
