Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I checked the manual, and it had instructions for connecting a battery to the fuse box, but the connectors didnt seem to be there in the fuse box, which ties in with it being a cable one and not elec.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The terminals in the engine bay? Is this possible? Reason being, my duff alternator has drained the battery and it would be easier to charge as above than find the manual release in the wheel arch ( not sure which one on my 2000 cab) ? Have searched here and this method of charging has been suggested.

POST 2Original post

Hi dont know if yours has it, but mine has the manual bonet release inside the door shut area on the drivers side close to the top hinge? failing that you can connect the charger to the terminals in the fuse box located in the drivers side footwell - the manual shows you the live and neg terminals to use! Jon

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for input. It's sorted now, took the passenger wheel arch liner off an found the cable to open the bonnet. I checked the manual, and it had instructions for connecting a battery to the fuse box, but the connectors didnt seem to be there in the fuse box, which ties in with it being a cable one and not elec. Battery on charge now

POST 4Original post

I think you'll find that is the manual FUEL DOOR release. The bonnet release is behind the lights and in front of wheel arch liner (passenger side on RHD)

POST 5Original post

If you have mechanical release levers the emergency cable is on the passenger side, but if you have electric releases it is on the driver's side.

POST 6Original post

Richard, The rear release is also on the passenger side on my (manual release) car, is it the same location for electronic release varieties?

POST 7Original post

Yes - the rear release cable is on the passenger side for both types.
