Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suspected cause

I may be wrong but I think I read somewhere it was the other way about for clutches on 996's with regards to a low bighting point meaning the clutch is near the end of its travel and due for replacement

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Had the car out for the fist time in a couple of weeks, immediatley noticed clutch was a lot more heavy than usual. Eased a bit after driving a few miles, but still heavier than norm. Biting point was near the bottom. When depressing the clutch pedal with engine on, can hear a whine/whirring noise from back offside of car. Is there a problem I need to address pronto? Thanks in advance to you all.

POST 2Original post

Clutches are heavy in a NA car as they are not servo assisted, the whining sound when depressed well may be the thrust bearing, might be worth getting this checked out. The biting point sounds fine if the clutch is on the way out the biting point is usually higher up.

POST 3Original post

I may be wrong but I think I read somewhere it was the other way about for clutches on 996's with regards to a low bighting point meaning the clutch is near the end of its travel and due for replacement I'm sure somebody more knowledgeable will be along soon to correct me :?:

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks guys. Anyone know for sure if the low biting point means it's on its way out?
