Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Every time I park in front of a friends apartment my remote key fails. It won't lock or unlock the doors. There are several radio towers in the area and I assume they're providing some RF interference. Anyone else ever run into this?

POST 2Original post

There have been a couple of reports here that are similar. The Owner's Manual also mentions the possibility so it probably should not be a surprise.

POST 3Original post

Happens to me constantly at work. I find it very irritating.

POST 4Original post

MY remote seems to have a mind of its own sometimes and the buttons need to be redesigned. Now I know why it does not work so much of the time.

POST 5Original post

Had the same thing happen to me in a parking garage in downtown Phoenix. Scared me at first, as I thought my battery died, but after manually unlocking the door, she started right up!

POST 6Original post

Happened to me once, dont remember where though, but it was scary! ________________________ "Sir! We're surrounded!" - "Excellent! We can shoot in any direction!" A good car will get you from point A to point B. A great car... will just get you into trouble!

POST 7Original post

When I first got my car I was complaining that the key locked and unlocked my car at odd times. I complained to the service manager who said it might be microwaves. I later found that my problem was just a bad key design but your problem might actually be caused by those towers.

POST 8Original post

My car does weird things like that when parked at my ex's house. He's walked out to get something out of the car and it has locked when he has gotten within a few feet of it. (No, I wasn't locking it.) He's convinced the car hates him & calls it "Christine".

POST 9Original post

Yes, happened to me near radio and TV stations.

POST 10Original post

Happens to me when I park in a particular location in downtown Chicago near my office. In the morning, locking/unlocking is not an issue; but in the afternoon, I have to get within inches of the front of the car to get it to unlock (if it will unlock at all). It seems pretty clear to be a RF interference issue.

POST 11Original post

There is a spot in midtown NYC when my remote failed. Not far from it, my bmw remote failed as well...

POST 12Original post

happened to me at a local gtg about a year ago at the ala moana shopping center. presumably, it was rf interference.
