Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All,
Strange...I am certain for sure my 2003 996TT is just that - a 996TT.
However, upon looking at the log book, getting various
insurance
quotes, tyre sizes etc on the web, my car's registration always comes up as a Turbo S!
On the rear of my car it just says Turbo, no 'S'.
Anyone help to solve the mystery? Is there anywhere on the web where I can put in my VIN and get the id of my car?
Thanks...
Ring your local OPC with the VIN number and ask them.
I wouldn't listen to the
insurance
companies - they kept telling me mine was a cabrio instead of a coupe!
+1 here also, don't know why but the Tiptronic seems to come with an S
Not to teach anyone to suck eggs but do check your V5 against the actual VIN, being particulary careful about O vs 0, S vs 5, Z vs 2 and all that. I have certainly had to correct the VIN details on my V5 before, which previous owner(s) had presumably never noticed were wrong.

AFAIK the turbo S came out in 2005 as the final run on the 996 turbo with K24 blowers and ceramic brakes
pre this was the X50 - which was basically a Turbo with the K24's
if yours is a 2003 check if the sticker under the bonnet or in the front of the log book has X50 in the spec codes.
Thanks for all the responses guys!
I think you are all right and it makes perfect sense. It's definately the triptronic gearbox that is causing the 'S' on the log book.
Thought I may have won the lottery with this one but may be not!
Car has gone in for some minor paint work, (lady kissed my rear!!)
But mind you, the insurance company has given me a 2009 Carrera 4s cab, pretty awesome and sound of the exhausts.......wow......wow!! and it's pretty darn quick too, not much in it against my 996TT Trip!
Just for info...the insurance companies are supposed to (by law) give you an equivelant car for none fault claims. However, because mine is 6+ years old the insurance companies are not obliged to do that. So they gave me one class down. But like I said....not bad.....not bad at all....
Cheers all.
