Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

My rear main seal is being replaced and I'm going to replace the clutch as well.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The stock clutch can be had for about 450. There is also an upgraded sachs kit that has a different disc and maybe stiffer pressure plate but dunno. I am getting the lightened flywheel clutch kit from fvd as we speak. It lightens the flywheel something like 16 pounds! I hear it is the best upgrade that you can do to your 996 short of suspension stuff. No flames please. An ecu flash to the newer program is required thought. I also talked about the ROW ecu update and was told that the regular update here is actually better as the ROW one doesn't add or do anything power wise and creates a problem when trying to smog it as it only uses two or the o2 sensor instead of 4 or something.
Hey Theo what setup do you have? What flywheel are you using in you have the lightweight and what clutch? How do you like it? Is there much more noise or vibration? How is the acceleration and let out from first?
Hey Sean. Nice to see you are getting the flywheel from us. So you know, the ECU does not have to be re-programmed. The OBD2 system self adjusts to the less weight of the clutch system. You can do it of course if more HP & TQ are desired. What the hell, .... I would do it.
Sachs Motorsports supplies us the clutch kit. So far, so good !!
Theo
Nice. So you must be at fvd usa in florida there eh? yeah I am mainly going to do the update becuase I have an old version and have baloney idle issues etc. Any thoughts on best hp and tq program? I was told by someone else that the ROW has a stronger torque curve, but was just told otherwise and that it makes no difference but that I could do whatever I wanted so yeah...
Sean, we have a european program that works well.
If you really want to go nuts, ecu, headers, sport cats, airfilter and camshafts.... = 345 crank HP.
Theo
yeah that is what I was trying to mimick I already have gemballa mufflers and bmc filter. How does your ecu compare to the gemballa? I was told that no other tuner can match their engineering, and that "they can only be the same but no better". Any thoughts?
Gemballa mufflers and BMC are good. Absolutely NO power increase I'm sure you are aware.
Gemballa programing and ours ?? Well, lets just say HP & TQ figures are similiar we were informed.
Other than that ..............
Theo
Have a RMS leak. Getting a light flywheel and sport clutch, etc. Cup programming will yield even more torque. Getting a great deal at Foreign Affairs Motorsports. I strongly encourage you to talk to Bob or Bobby at [phone removed]!

Mike
Yes. I have an 01 C4 with the 3.4L. The "cup" programming yields better torque than ROW. It takes advantage of the light flywheel and sport clutch. Bob can explain it better than I. Give him a call. No affiliation. Just a very satisfied customer. I trust him and he knows what he is doing.
Hope this helps.

Mike
