Suggestion

Could that part be bypassed, thus allowing coolant to run through to cool the tr an ny all the time?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yes tiptronic 92857457303 is the part number???

POST 4Original post

It is part of the transmission cooling system, and is listed as a discontinued product here in the US. Suggest checking with a dealer parts department over there.

POST 5Original post

Heater control valve $50-80. Got mine locally at sports car parts store a year or so back.

POST 6Original post

Porsche has an updated part 928-574-573-04, and it is part of the transmission cooling system

POST 7Original post

That part is readily available all over the place... which leads me to a question for JFP... Could that part be bypassed, thus allowing coolant to run through to cool the tr an ny all the time? I've a new one on my 98, installed during the tran s rebuild. When it leaks or fails... can it be bypassed? Thanks!

POST 8Original post

Yes, it can be bypassed, but we have only done that as an emergency measure when parts were temporarily scarce. I have no idea what the long-term impact that would have on the Tip. Porsche typically does not throw in part without a reason, and I do know that Porsche recommends against it..............
