Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Maybe I'm being to careful, but how the heck do you install the ash tray delete? I can't pull the wiring from the ash tray, or the window buttons. Do they just pull apart, or is there a special way to do it?

POST 2Original post

I assume you have the ashtray out and undid the torx screws ...The connectors just pull out.

POST 3Original post

Yeah just pulls out nothing special, can I ask where you got your ashtray delete from and $$

POST 4Original post

I use a small screwdriver (along the insides) to help free up the real and dummy switches when I've replaced mine in the past. They can be a bit stubborn but they will eventually come out. Here are the directions (with pictures) from when I did my Boxster nearly 10 years ago!

Bumperplugs.com sells it.

Just an FYI... The one I just bought from Sunset Imports to do my painted console was $38.49 and the rubber mat insert was $5.65.

POST 7Original post

How did the paint come out? I was contemplating buyin the bumperplugs as it is painted and I can get the Carrera GT Silver to match my console but damn $150 is a bit steep

POST 8Original post

Miami, Eric at Bumperplugs is a Rennlist Site Sponsor and a really greay guy (I met him when I lived in Charlotte) with excellent products and excellent service. There is a lot of prep invilves with getting the part ready for paint and making sure the paint will adhear to the plastic properly.

POST 9Original post

I know i already bought a few items from Eric and will be picking up a Denison along with a few other goodies from him in near future. I am just trying to decide if to give painting a factory ashtray delete a shot myself or just bite the bullet and get it already painted.

If you have a factory painted console I would definitely recommend going with Eric as you are more likely to get an exact match. As I painted my console and non-smoker tray at the same time doing the paint match was not a problem. However matching paints, especially metallics, is a real art and I wouldn't want to try that myself. Plus, by the time you buy the parts and the paint and pay for shipping you're probably 2/3 or more of the way there already - another reason to go the pre-painted route.

Go with Eric, first rate stuff, also just got a Dension for my Cayenne from him, works really well.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I. Got it from bumper plug guy, it's great looking, although I didn't get it painted yet, I do need my entire console painted because my st bernard scratched it up. I also got the bumper plugs and keyhole plug, which you could technically make yourself, but you might as well support someone in the community.
