Who did your remap, how much bhp/torque are you supposed to have now, have you changed your turbo hoses and valves and who's fitting your clutch?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just had my Turbo remapped, guess the clutch must have been on its last legs as now it is slipping.
Have been qouted £1000 for supply and fit a new clutch.
Anybody else had clutch problems after a remap and does this price sound reasonable for a clutch.
The car is a standard TT not X50. The price for the clutch is at a local porsche specialist.
Cheers
Richard
£1K for a new clutch on a Turbo sounds a reasonable price.
I doubt the remap has caused it so soon it must have been on its way out must be the extra torque has made it more noticable.
I'd suggest the sachs unit to cope with the extra torque and BHP.
OEM clutches are ok up to about 480bhp but expect approx 24k miles before it let's go again vs 40k miles on the uprated units.
Don't run it like this as the flywheel face can get scored/ruined then your bill will be even bigger
Thanks for the heads up on the uprated clutch.
Car is going in on Monday for the uprated clutch. Getting a full service including plug change at the same time.
May also get a short shift fitted at the same time. i drove a demonstrator with a short shift fitted and this improved the feel of the gear shift greatly.

Sorry about all the q's but appreciate your comments.
Hi
The remap wass done by Car Tech prestige in Hartlepool in the North East. They where recommended by the garage that i bought the car from. They have remapped a lot of 996 TTs with good results. The car previously usedto boost to 0.6 bar but after the remap it boosted to 0.9 bar. Not sure of the exact bhp, but the garage said an increase of about 60-70bhp and an extra 100-120 torques.
it did make a very noticeable difference to the car but unfortunately the clutch slipped almost immediately so have not had a chance to try the car properly. I dont think the remap caused the clutch problem, i am guessing that the clutch was on its way out already and probably wouldnt have lasted much longer even without the remap.
I have not changed anything else on the car other than the remap.
The car is going into the same garage tomorrow for the uprated clutch, a full service, and also a quick shift gear change, which after trying the one in their own 996 TT i can say made a huge improvement.

clutch
Speed is never cheap or easy and will place extra strain on any component. 1K does nos sound enough the clutch is circa 500 but you can do it with the engine in. check the duel mass flywheel to make sure theres no play on it if so there another monkey.
good luck
