Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Super new and this may be a very commonly known question. How does one typically control the valves on a 2.9L base ( no exhaust button inside). Just curious? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

Also pretty experienced with cars, wiring, and mechanical work, also fabricating so not scared would like to keep it clean.

POST 3Original post

Not sure I follow, if there is no button with the tail pipe icon on the console then the car does not have the sport exhaust option and there are no valves in the exhaust system. The Porsche sport Exhaust including the console button can be retro fitted but is pretty expensive. 2300 for parts on Suncoast .

POST 4Original post

Should have been more clear, sorry for the confusion. After market sport exhaust. Most I see have valves..

POST 5Original post

Fabspeed has the option to include a valve control kit with their valves exhaust. Looks like 2 wireless keyfobs control the exhaust for those without factory button/wiring. I'd guess other mfg may offer the same type of solution https://www.fabspeed.com/porsche-981-boxster-cayman-tracktec-valved-bypass-exhaust-system/

POST 6Original post

IDK if your car ( 987.2 ) is the same as mine in this regard. On 987.1 models, if the car is fitted with the sport chrono package , then the electrical connector to control the PSE solenoid is already pre-wired and stowed in the engine bay. So, once configured properly - using the PSE retrofit kit - the sport button also controls PSE , and no dedicated PSE switch is required in the dashboard. However, the PSE "open" and "sport" modes are not independently selectable in this configuration. The PSE retrofit kit consists of a solenoid, vacuum hoses, clips, and installation instructions. I don't recall whether or not PIWIS coding is required post-installation. I hope this helps. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
