With the variance in ride height from car to car being 10mm, this is probably a mute point!

As far as the wheel gap is concerned, it now sits where it should have been set from the factory.

Interesting that the ride quality is so close on green shocks, speaks to the pretty firm OE setting on the C4S I think.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My first impression this afternoon of the M030 is extremely positive. The car feels much tighter, appears to handle better, and in my opinion does not feel much stiffer than the stock setup. As far as the wheel gap is concerned, it now sits where it should have been set from the factory. The nose sits slightly lower than the rear. I am very pleased with the results. The B&M short shifter is another item that should come stock on this vehicle. Although initially it caught me by surprise, I couldn't believe what a difference this thing makes! Shifts feel extremely short, precise, with just enough added weight. There is absolutely no slop in the shifting. It's definitely much more satisfying to snick through the gears. I'll post pictures tomorrow, since It's now a bit dark outside.

POST 2Original post

Cool. If you don't mind my asking, what did you pay for parts and installation and where did you get it done? (please email if don't want to divulge here) I've been thinking about doing the Euro suspension on my '03 C4S. Did you need to do an alignment after installing the suspension? -Scott

POST 3Original post

I think you'll find the B&M loosens up slightly with time and actually feels just right. Hey, where's the PSE??

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Scott, The Euro sport suspension was 1395 Euro. I ordered it from Gert at Carnewal.com. It works out to be a little over $1,600 now delivered ~ I could have sworn I paid less when I ordered it a few months ago. The short shifter was $275 from a local speed shop. I know that's high but the owner is a client of mine.... For installation I paid $694. This incudes suspension, shifter, and alignment, so I think I did well on that end. I'd recommend the shifter and suspension to anyone. Any lower would be a problem with the front spoiler, and there is literally no trade off with ride comfort. I'm extremely pleased! 542 HRE's are next....

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Darren, In the pictures it really isnt that noticeable. If you're looking for a lower drop, the PSS9 set up is probably the way to go. I understand that ride quality is a harsher than the M030. This setup is about 3/4" lower in the front and 1/2" lower in the back. For my driving, which is mainly on the street, it is the best compromise. I also don't want to have to worry about scraping the front end any more than I already do.

POST 8Original post

The car will also drop slightly with time as the springs settle. Looks good!

POST 9Original post

Well, the shocks break in fairly rapidly, but the springs should not. Steel within its elastic range does not fatigue. Interesting that the ride quality is so close on green shocks, speaks to the pretty firm OE setting on the C4S I think. M030 is distinctly firmer compared to stock C2. Looks great.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The stock ride height on the C4S is lower by 10mm than the stock 996. This may be a reason for the drastic change in ride quality from stock to M030.

All 996 variants, except for GT2 and GT3, ride at the same height. It is the ROW Carrera 4S model which sits at approximately 10 mm lower than the standard ROW 996.

POST 12Original post

Viken, That begs the question that if the ROW C4S is 10mm lower than ROW 996, and ROW 996 is 10mm lower than US 996, then doesn't that make the ROW C4S 20mm lower than the US 996??? I swear I read somewhere in Excellence or Pano that the US C4S was lower than the US 996 C2 for 2003, having adopted a different default sport suspension, but maybe I'm wrong. Perhaps a measuring party is in order at the local dealership?

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ken, I was told the same thing by my dealer. Looking at a stock C2 or C4 it does appear to be slightly higher than a stock C4S. With the variance in ride height from car to car being 10mm, this is probably a mute point!

POST 14Original post

The U.S. spec C4S (2002 and 2003) is 10mm lower than the C2, according to the brochure at least.

POST 15Original post

So if the 02-03 C4S is 10mm lower than the C2 in the US, does the ROW suspension have any effect on a 02-03 C4S or isn't it just the same thing?

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It definitely lowered my car, not by much but enough to make the difference I was looking for. It now exhibits a nose down rake, as to before it rode higher in the front than the rear.
