Was pondering whether to put a set of 997 turbo wheels on my CS but am worried about sacrificing ride comfort so my other idea was to leave my stock 18" s on and whack a set of H&R springs on to lower the ride hight.
Anyone been down this road and care to share there thoughts?
Thanks
i think fitting standard offset/width 997tt wheels on a cayman would be difficult. We have a few cayman s/ boxster s cars with the turbo style wheel and they ride just fine. what are you trying to do, my guess is that ride comfort would be hindered doing both of your options.
I lowered via springs and run 18's. The ride is notably stiffer. Wouldnt dare do this and run 19' wheels. Teeth might crack
I put a set of H&R springs on and kept the factory 19's - added a set of Boothe spacers. I think the ride is fine - a little stiffer, but by no means unbearable. After all, it is a sports car, not a Lexus.
Thanks for your views guys I think I will start off with the springs and see how that goes as I have the possibility to get them for trade price.
Hi Stig
I have 997tt wheels on my car with 14 mm spacers in the rear with H&R springs.
I have Michelin PS2 N1 tires, 295 rear and the front 235.
The Michelin tires have less road noise the original 18 inch Bridgestones
On normal PASM the suspension does not feel hard, it feels like the stock springs and 18 inch wheels.
On sport PASM it gets very hard and bumpy but feels much better in very fast corners.
I had to roll the rear fender at bit because it was rubbing in fast corners.
I set the camber -1 degree in the front and -1.4 degree in the rear and have a very neutral handling car.
If you fit these wheels you will not be disappointed.
Cheers
Herman
I wouldn't worry about the ride
I have 19" sport design wheels, Michelin PS2s and no PASM on the CS. The ride is fine, never harsh.
PS - Look at

s signature pix - a CS with 997tt wheels.
I replaced front/rear sway bars with H&R ones. That car is a little stiffer, but the handling in the curves is improved substantially. The roads here are poor so I decided to get a set of 18 inch Cayman wheels, and I have PASM. I would not alter the springs since I already scrape the bottom of the car in places, despite going slow.
With good roads the 19 inch with H&R sway bars and PASM would be fine. Eventually I am going to put R compount tires in one if the sets of wheels. I will decide to do that once I wear a set of tires. My original thought was to do it with the 18s, right now I am undecided.
If anybody has comments on R compound tires 18, or 19, please jump in.
