I wanted PASM on my car, but could not have it added to my car, even with 5-6 weeks prior to build. My car (Cayman S) will probably be delivered sometime in late May.
My car has 19 inch wheels. I will only be driving the car on the street. I would GENUINELY APPRECIATE suggestions as to what specific suspension changes I could make that would improve handling over the base suspension and at the same time improve ride quality.
Two criteria (if possible):
1. Improve handling over base suspension
2. Improve ride quality
I am pretty sure that I will be told to do a search, which I have done previously. I have found it difficult at best to extrapolate an answer from what I have read thus far.
Any help in the above would rally be appreciated as I really did want the PASM and I was frustrated in that I could not get it.

Oops!
I posted this in the Modifications section as I had just read the thred about what modifications are Cayman members doing on their cars. This thread may really belong in the Tire and Wheel section. So if so, moderators, please feel free to move it to where you feel it belongs.

I suggest you wait until you actually receive the car & have enough miles on it to intelligently discuss exactly what deficiencies you find (if any) in the stock handling or ride. I'll bet the handling limits of the car w/stock suspension will be well beyond your demands, & likely capabilities, for your street driven Cayman.
As for comfort, here again, base your decision on your experience after a few 1000 miles of driving during which you can play w/tire pressures. I predict you will not find
any
aftermarket suspension using 19" tires that will combine better handling than stock
plus
be more comfortable than the stock suspension w/
18" tires
.
In short,
if you want better handling, improve the limiting factor: the driver;
if you want a more comfortable ride get 18" tires.
I just saved you at least $2,000. Invest it in DE track time. You won't regret it.

STLPCA,
Thanks for your insightful response. I presently drive a 1997 BMW M3, and I ride a superb bicycle. The limiting factor in the handling of both the car and the bike is me. Very clearly so. I have really enjoyed and appreciated my M3. I have been quite aware that I don't drive it anywhere near its limits, because I simply am not capable of doing such. For years, I have thought about taking a driving course which would improve my ability in driving, but I never took one.
I guess what I was asking was could I change the base suspension so that the car would have better ride quality (as like what occurs with PASM in normal mode), without losing any of the fabulous handling of the car (and with possibly actually improving the handling). I KNOW that no matter the suspension- stock, PASM, modified,...., the limiting factor in handling would be me, for sure.
I have thought about 18 inch wheels in the future. You make an excellent point about driving it first to see what I like and don't like. A new set of OEM wheels and tires would be fairly expensive, I would think.
Thanks for saving me the $2,000+. I hope that you don't bill me for your wonderful advice.

PSS9, on the softer settings they ride better than stock.
If you decide the 19s ride too rough, I'll bet you can find someone to swap for their set of stock 18s plus some cash back to you. Alternatively, a set of "new" take off 18s shouldn't be too hard to find & I'd guess would run about $2k. Your 19s should bring more. If you were closer, I'd loan you my 18s for a few weeks so you could do a back to back comparison. Maybe there's someone local who is willing to do the same.
BTW, no charge for the advice, which may be what it's worth.
