Mount the assembly, adjusting tips from side-to-side and up/down using a little leverage and a jack, then tighten the hanger rod clamps to the car.

BTW I really like your black going, going to have to clean my tips inside and do that little mod as well.

I wish I had the skill to replace my exhaust system....or just change the oil for that matter./fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/confused_smile.gif

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

my first exhaust arrived damaged. Strat sent me another one (packed much better) and picked up the old one painlessly. I got around to installing it today. Install it not too bad, but there are a few tricks to gettng it positioned correctly. The stock bar that the exhaust mounts to has a reasonable amount of adjustment to line everything up correctly. A few tips:
Remove the stock exhaust by unbolting it from the hanger bar
Remove the hanger bar
Bolt the Milltek to the hanger bar, use a level to get the tips the same height, then tighten down the clamp connecting the two.
Mount the assembly, adjusting tips from side-to-side and up/down using a little leverage and a jack, then tighten the hanger rod clamps to the car.
I first tried to install it without removing the hanger rod. The tips were malaligned and I could not get them centered. At first I thought I had received another damaged one. I then tried the above way and they look perfect.
[K-Man-S: Mine looked just like yours the first try. I bet yours is fine, it just needs some adjustment]
Of course I couldn't resist firing it up with no exhaust. It's what you would expect, very loud and nasty sounding.
Below are some pics. I painted inside of the tips with high-temp engine paint. I don't like the sooty silver look.

Beautiful! How does the sound and more importantly, the performance, compare to the stock exhaust? I have not yet gotten enough nerve to do such a significant modification.
I think it is Plasti-coat - whatever they had had Pep-Boys. It's already more of a flat black after driving a little.
It sounds great, a deeper rumble at idle, and a banshee wail at WOT. You won't be disappointed.
Actually they did loosen the hanger rod connectors on my car to try to reposition but since another set was coming anyway I told them not to waste more time with it (since I was getting billed by the hour), just get it close and be done with it. I'll worry more about the tip alignment next time. BTW I really like your black going, going to have to clean my tips inside and do that little mod as well. I suspect you used hi-temp black paint right?
Can you do me a favor and record an audio file of your exhaust as well? That way people can compare to the audio files I posted. Do you plan to dyno or what does your butt dyno tell you?
It has only been on for 4 hours so the butt dyno hasn't collected adequate data. I don't hink I have a means to collect audio, but I'll look into it. Yeah, as soon as Orton gets their dyno in. I've got another car that needs to ride it as well.
Megapixels are so overated,Ishot that witha5 year old camera (Olympus E-10).
From inside, I wouldn't say it sound significantly louder, just better. (It sounds much better now that I tracked down the two bolts that I forgot to tighten, it rattled pretty bad at idle.) At idle it has a more deep throb and when getting on it, it sounds deeper and more gutteral. I've not heard it from outside the car, but I don't think it being too loud would be a concern for anyone.
As far as performance increase, I cannot honestly say I feel a difference, however, I believe that anyone who says they can 'feel' a power increase of < 10% is kidding themselves. Since I'm sure the power increase is at most 5%, I did not expect to feel a difference. Still, no disappointments.
BTW, if you're in the metro Atlanta area, I'll help you installyours for beer or female companionship.

Great job! I really like the tip painting - think I will do it also. Your description of the sound is spot on. I tooled around today playing with engine speed and load to see what it did. Never a resonance and never too loud - but way better than stock.
Great job. It looks sweet. I wish I had the skill to replace my exhaust system....or just change the oil for that matter./fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/confused_smile.gif
thanks k man, im late to the club, and the party! i did get in on the remote though, and i appreciate all the support through the club.
There was already an initial buy from Stratmosphere which I am pretty sure is over and will not be repeated, but you could call them and ask.

I would like to see what others are getting with the Milltek on the dyno. I know this is early on, I am still surprised on the limited feedback on real hp gain. It's a beautiful system, with I am sure a beautiful sound, but does $5000 for an exhaust system perform?
just got the headers and exhaust installed friday, very nice sound. very quiet with the exception of between 2700 and 3000 rpm's. Definately more pull when stepping on the gas. I plan on doing a dyno because I also plan on getting the giac chip so I want to do a before and after. will let you know when I get it done. One little complaint, my right exhaust tip was also damaged during shipping, the side of the tip was completely flat. Was able to fix it a little but I am waiting for a new one to be shipped out. Hopefully packed a little better.

Craig,
Yes. Yes. Please let us know your dyno results of the new exhaust. It would also be nice to hear more about your butt dyno impressions for those of us who are considering this mod.
I received my set of headers and catback exhaust. I am sorry to say one of the tips was banged during shipping. /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/angry_smile.gif I think they have to improve packing. I also like to commend their customer service.I have been dealing with Rich and he has been prompt in response to my e-mails. /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/thumbsup.gif Stratmosphere will be sending a new side of the catback, and will take care of picking up the damaged one.
It will be about two more weeks for me to install it since shipping to Puert Rico is slow. /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/cry_smile.gif
