Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anyone here has pictures of tinted tail lights on a black Cayman? I searched, but the only one I found was too small to make a good judgment.
If you did get yours tinted, how did you get that done? VHT Nite Share spray with clear coat or something like Lamin-X tint film?
I basically only want to tint the red parts and leave the clear ones alone.
One more question... I live in IL now and I did search secretary of state site and google, but could not find anywhere anything about tail light tinting and legality of that. I may also move to Boston this year, how about MA, are they legal there?
I took my tail lights out this last weekend, getting ready to ship them to Jon's,
http://www.jonstintedtails.com/
, in a couple of days. I did my last car and they came out perfect. My CS is the Atlas Gray so the tinted lense should go good. I also am sending the front side marker lights as well.
Jon paints them and then clear coats them same as the car. Looks good with a coat of wax on.
Yep, have seen that thread. But the only tint job that comes close is this:
I would like to see though how it looks with black exterior. Compete shot of the back would be great.
Jayman, are you doing entire tail light or just what the picture above has?
Anyone know the answer to the legality question?
I am leaning towards tinting the whole light. I did it in my last car and while I admit I did sacrifice my back up lighting, it looked great. If you'd like I can post a picture of my last car which was a Volvo S60R.
I contacted Jon a few weeks ago and he quoted me a price of $90 to do the taillights plus $20 for return shipping. He later gave me a price of $30 to do the side markers.
I feel the tinted taillights on a dark gray or black car are great. It just looks like thats the way it should be. Now add black wheels and lowering kit. Whew....
Email Jon, he is very good about getting back to you. Like I said before, its paint so you wax the lights too, I can't tell you how good they look after you detail the whole car.
Here are some pics of my car with blacked out tail lights, I actually did not tint them i got them painted, i got it all done for a 100 out the door.
Those look a lot darker than mine, yours look blacked out all together, mine were a light tint and you could see the deep a red beneath.
These are from my old Volvo and taken in sunlight.
OK, so the only question remains: how legal is tinting of tail lights. It is very clear what many states think about headlights, but I can find anything on tail lights. With all the attorneys here I would have expected answer to this before pictures came up
Yes the tints look good, but as with other mods, I don't want to give extra reasons for cops to pull me over.
A question for the lawyers....somebody rear-ends you, and asserts you were negligent in tinting your taillights b/c he/she couldn't see them (perhaps depending on the lighting conditions?). I'm guessing that could create liability by hampering the car's original safety lighting.
Just my $.02 (and no offense to those who've done it), but it seems a bit Camaro-ish IMO anyway. YMMV....
StatiX man, your car looks so freakin' amazing here! Please DO NOT put that monstrosity of that Techart wing on it:crazy:
I like your car so much that I am going to print this pic of your car out and tell people it is mine
j/k
Anyone try these film kit before?

As long as the reflector still has a hint of red you should be fine. It should look a Merlot red. Your color is perfect i wouldn't go darker I think its perfect.
I bought one of the kits off e-bay to see how it would look. Honestly, I think I will keep it on. Not too dark, and blends in well with my tinted rear window
You would have to be blind to say that you didnt see the brake lights light up due to tinted tails. Seriously. Second of all, I know it's just your opinion, but Camaro-ish? When I see tinted tails I think of the SLR McLaren, european GT cup racing, Novotec Ferraris...etc. I guess we differ in opinion...
im guessing when you bought the kit that you saw a picture of my car huh? That kit on ebay isnt even the film i used....they just took my picture from somewhere and threw it up there
The tint does not affect the visibility of the brake light whatsoever, anybody want to come over and have me show them? lol. Day and night. Tested and retested.
Thinking outside the box i guess...i like to modify my car (looks and performance) more than most.

As soon as I hit the brakes...they light up as bright as stock.
