Has anyone retrofit their Cayman with the Digital HID kit from Xtralight? I will like some feedback whether it is worth spending the extra money on the digital kit.
In one of the old xenon light thread, someone had mentioned that the 4300k bulb will look yellowish from the stock halogen lens. Does anyone experience the same issue? I know stepping up to higher temperature will increase the whiteness but at the expense of lower brightness.
Any information will be appreciated. Thanks.
What exactly is "digital" about it? I mean I could advertise a pencil for sale as a "digital pencil" and I guess technically I would be correct, either it writes or it doesn't, 1 or 0. Xenon lights produce light from a gas igniting/fluorescing, etc. right? In which case a current goes through that medium and produces light. If you pulsed the current (digital signal) the light would go on and off which I don't think would be as good as an even flowing steady "analog" current. Hence, I am at a loss at what is digital about these lights and what exactly would make them better than any other Xenon lights. Don't get me wrong, I love my factory Xenon lights, I'm just confused by your question.

The digital ballasts are a croc... the only difference is that instead of using a magnetic coil to control on\off, they use a digital signal. They're marketed to have 3 percent more color matching between the right and left light because the current is regulated better...and they are thinner and lighter.
Personally, go with the middle of the road kit, it's got the circuit protection and the resistor pack (make sure you get this $80 option). The "xetronic" kit with analog ballasts has gotten lots of good reviews from tuner magazines and is used by board members here and on other forums without issues.
There is a cheaper alternative now as well, as reported by member 987bs who got a kit from ebay for under $200 that functions the same as the xetronic kit and gives no error message, you can find information on that at the very end of the HID experiment thread I posted.
