This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suspected cause

I had a buzzing sound that would happen at acceleration and seemed dependent on RPM's, but then found it to be coming from the passenger footwell - the culprit was the little plastic piece on the subwoofer enclosure.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Just took delivery of a Cayman last week. At times, after I have started the engine, I hear this buzzing/low resonance sound from the left hand side of the engine bay, just behind the passenger headrest (RHD car). The sound increases as you rev the engine, but beyond, 2000 rpm seems to go away. The buzzing is intermediate and does not come on all the time. As these things go, I know that when I bring the the car to the shop, the noise will not be present. Has anyone had this issue before? It is really irritating and dampening the joy of driving the new car.

POST 2Original post

I had a buzzing sound that would happen at acceleration and seemed dependent on RPM's, but then found it to be coming from the passenger footwell - the culprit was the little plastic piece on the subwoofer enclosure. Pulled off the plastic piece, put some velcro on the back and no more buzzing!

POST 3Original post

I have that exact same rattle. I thought it was just the plastic around the strut rubbing when it was cold, but now I am not sure. The air filter is also in that area and I remember someone saying that buzzed, but I think it was only with a different than stock air filter. Time to go do a search while I am still thinking about it. Edit: Here is a good thread, except the revs are much lower in your description. http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-boxster-complaints/29344-engine-rattle-2-800-3-000-rpm.html
