Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Any ideas on this .... Bought car yesterday no noise at all, drove it all day as well. Drove it half day today and came back and noticed a belt slipping noise, lifted engine lid and sounds like its coming from the middle section does`nt make the sound when cold :dont know: If it had made that sound yesterday wouldnt have bought it - any ideas :?: 911 tt x50

POST 2Original post

What the situation when it happens? Does it make the noise all the time or just under load or tickover or cornering? Assume it's going ok and it's had any relevant belt replacements according to the schedule? If it's been sat around a while and it only makes the noise when warm then it may well work it's way out with a bit of use. Worse case scenario is get someone to check the tensions. Anyone on here got any tips for checking belt tension?

POST 3Original post

Mine used to do this. Think your supossed to change them after something like 40-50k. Changed mine and never done it since. Not the hardest DIY I've ever done. :cop:

POST 4Original post

Had exactly the same a couple months ago so renewed the V belt and it stopped. Try squirting a bit of duck oil on the belt, see if the noise dissapears.
