Hello all, that's my second post in a very long time. After my "I'm moving to Austria" post.
So, I shipped my car from Egypt to Italy so that I can take it to Austria. Here she is coming out of the shipping container for the first time:
P.S. My car is a 2007 987.1 Boxster S tip
I have been experiencing very weird problems ever since. Let me try and recap, perhaps someone can help:
It had a CEL.
Very shortly after it came out, I was tapping the gas and it stalled and turned off. Started fine afterwards.
On the very long way between Ravenna, Italy and Linz, Austria, it was running kind of weird. The rpm fluctuated even when the gas pedal was held constant.
It didn't want to go over 4000 RPM. It was as if it was cutting off fuel after 4k RPM. No matter how much gas I applied
Cruise control didn't work. Although the green activation lamp lit up, but it just didnt work. No errors or anything.
This was 2 days ago. Yesterday i took it for a quick drive here in Austria and it drove well.
Now today, I took it to check the antifreeze (10 minutes away from home). Then came back. Stopped in the far end of my block to drop off a friend and check the CEL on his OBD.
CEL read something relating to Transmission
Torque converter switch stuck off
We cleared that error, tried to start the car. And lo and behold, it doesn't want to start anymore. It cranks fine, but no start.
We called the ÖAMTC (Austrian Automobile Club), they sent a guy with a van to check, he read the codes again, it was registering
CrackShaft sensorfailure.
We left it parked there as we couldn't start it. And I went home.
3 hours later, I came back to try and start it. It started fine on the first try.
Took it for a quick drive, working fine. Even cruise control is working fine.
Tried to rev it in a stop light, it stalled and died. Started fine after a delay.
Took it home, turned it off and waited for 10 mins. Tried to start, it started with no problems.
Now I am completely confused. All these seem related, the RPM hesitation, the stalling, the refusal to start. And all seem related to the car being warm. Its fine when cold. But the only useful thing I could get out from the ÖAMTC computer was a crankshaft sensor error. Which -I would have thought- would be consistent, and not go away after 3 hours and allow the car to start.
Anyone have any ideas? Help is greatly appreciated.
Since no one seems to have an answer, here's some more research I did.
I used my OBDII tool to log a drive after a cold start, and another after a warm start. Check out the charts for RPM and MAP/MAF and let me know what you guys think:
Left = Cold start
Right = warm start
As a first step I would document the codes you're throwing (actual numbers). This will help us help you. Second, I would stop clearing the codes until you resolve what's causing them. There is clearly a problem with your car. The computer is trying to tell you what it is and to protect itself. You clearing the codes without actually fixing the problem is not going to make it run better or fix itself.
The information you've provided isn't enough for anything other than a guess.
Good luck and report back. Also, you may want to just go to a dealer if you actually want this resolved in a timely fashion.

A faulty crankshaft position sensor can cause the symptoms you describe.
