Bought it from Halfords, still using my original speakers and it sounds superb.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am a new owner of a 03 Carrera 4 with PCM 2 and 6 disk CD changer. I have explored all the options of getting my iPod or Sony Walkman to work with the system, but the upshot is that I can't justify the cost of the Denision Gateway 500 or the Mobridge and the quality of an FM modulator is just too poor. So I am stuck with copying my MP3s to a CD, but now it seems that my system does not read MP3s!!
Does anyone know whether there is a way around this?
Cheers.

Ive a 99 Carrera 4, and have just fitted a Sony cdxgt530ui head unit.
This unit is ipod, iPhone friendly, also has a memory stick port.
It plays Cd's and Cd's recorded in mp3 format.
It has a fool proof search system, just transfer your music in folders for easy navigation.
Bought it from Halfords, still using my original speakers and it sounds superb.
The cost fitted... a bargain £180.... sorted.
Hope this helps
Paramin, i was in the same situation but managed to pickup a Denision cheap from eBay for £133.. Easy job to fit, a little quirky to use but dam worth the money...
Cheers

Pale Rider,
Did you get Halfords to fit it at that price, or did you get a grown up to do it?
Interested because I have the same dilemma - need an iPod compatible head unit but am a bit wary or trusting my Porsche to the Halfords crew...
Re: Mp3
99 Carrera will have CDR22 I suspect and can easily be modified to work with an iPod.
Your car probably has the CDR23 head unit which is MOST driven (fibre optic) and cannot be modified in this way.
Only options are the Dension and the Mobridge so keep your eyes peeled on eBay!!
The 2003 C4 has the MOST set up, so for more complete integration the Dension or the Mobridge is the only option, but for a less expensive solution what about the FM modulator connecting directly to the radio antenna. Is this any better than a normal FM transmitter?
same situation sorted a few weeks back
hi Paramin
the fm transmiters are rubbish whether in line with the aerial or seperate, it will be slightly better at excluding the inherent interference the transmiter makes itself (quiet hissing and sometimes popping)if in line but if like me you live in a large town or city then finding an unused frequency not poluted by pirate radio will mean retuneing every few miles,
you could junk the original head unit fit a sony, alpine, kenwood etc
or i found this which seems to be a denision by another name,

personally i fitted a sony mex-bt3700 from halfords, i fitted myself with the tools to remove old unit available from halfords for £4.99
if you get them to fit make sure they have the correct keys before you buy as i bought then the guy went to fit and then discovered his were missing eventually drove to next nearest store and they removed the old unit for free,
also if you do go down this route there is a micro switch on the left inside
the radio hole which you will need to disconnect to stop the alarm blowing the horn when you set the alarm
cheers
