If anyone can tell me about how to replace the lock's microswitches, the part numbers and where to get them it would be much appreciated.

It'd also open a little sometimes whilst I was away from the car, setting the alarm off and leaving it open to the elements and robbers.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am having a problem with my driver's side door lock. Once I open the car with either the inside or the outside handle, the window will lower about 1 cm. but will go back up as soon as I release the handle, even with the door still open. If anyone can tell me about how to replace the lock's microswitches, the part numbers and where to get them it would be much appreciated.

POST 3Original post

I thought normal was that the window elevated once the door had been closed. not on release of the handle.

POST 4Original post

Agree with Rob, though mine seems to occasionally have a mind of its own and not lower at all.

POST 5Original post

Mine sometimes decide they can't be bothered to go back up again. They do seem think they are operating in a democracy rather than showing the required level of obedience.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It is not nomal The window is supposed to go back up when the door is closed , not while it is still open. If the window is raised that 1 cm. while the door is still open, when you close the door the glass will hit the rubber weatherstrip on the top side of the door , which may result in the glass being broken.

POST 7Original post

You have a problem with a microswitch in the the door lock assembly. There are 5 microswitches in there, and the one causing a problem is the one which tells the alarm unit if the door is open or closed. The alarm thinks the door is closed, hence the window goes back up. Do a search here. Someone recently had exactly the same problem and fixed it by replacing the switch, rather than the whole lock assembly..

POST 8Original post

Mine did this. It drove me nuts. It'd also open a little sometimes whilst I was away from the car, setting the alarm off and leaving it open to the elements and robbers. I eventually tracked it down to the seal had come away from the windscreen a tiny bit. Unnoticable. But when I shoved some superglue in to hold it together the whole window thing stopped happening. Being completely untechnical, I put it down to to the airtightness effecting the alarm in some way. It's another avenue for you to explore if the microswitch theory fails.
