Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Thanks guys - 2 allen keys and two pliers per cap did the trick!

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i have a set of replacement caps to and need to remove the existing ones...however...I do not have the tool to remove them! Can I just pull them off with a bent rod or something?

POST 2Original post

Yes. Either carfully bend a piece of coat hangar etc into an "L" and hook off. Take care the ends of the wire rod are not sharp/burred and scratch anything. Alternatively, I just used a small Allen key (2.5 or 3mm) and hooked it through hole. Gently pull the Allen key with a pair of pliars. They pop out easily. The second version is probably better as the Allen key won't bend and the nice straight "L" will "push" evenly from behind when you pull the shaft perpendicular to the cap face.

A pair of pliers, an old wire coathanger, and 5 minutes: Edit: You only have to make one once............... .

Thanks guys - 2 allen keys and two pliers per cap did the trick! I can't believe how much better car looks - given that the old badges had flaked off! topped it off with some tyre spray to make em look black...all in all the best 3 min cosmetic mod i have done (but then again I have only had car for 24 hours!)

POST 9Original post

An Allen key, an Allen key, a pair of pliers, a pair of pliers, and 5 seconds:  PS - I hope you aligned the crest, locking wheel bolt and valve?

POST 14Original post

well, don't keep us in suspense, what did you find?

POST 15Original post

Front two spot on but rears not correct. Its just come back from an OPC where it had a major service so they must have taken the wheels off but maybe not the caps. Country's gone to the dogs!! ld:
