Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I cant seem to find this anywhere - I even purchased the 911 secrets guide and there isn't much detail in there. What I need to know is things like changes in rear seating space/seating slants (if any), 3 point harnesses or not in rear, do airbags cover rear passengers etc... sorry if this is really obvious stuff, but very shortly about to get a 911 and needed clarification on these things....

POST 2Original post

As far as the features you mentioned, during the 996's lifetime, none changed. They all have FOUR airbags, just for front seats. They all have FOUR three-point seat belts (except GT Models, which only have front seats and may additionally have harnesses for the fronts and internal roll cages). The rear seats only differ when comparing the coupe to cab (the cab's rear seat backs are more vertical).

If you do a search on eBay and type in 996 brochure or book, you might get an official brochure detailing the 996 variants and the matrices you require. Here is an example: http://tinyurl.com/yh63gck I have this edition and contains the matrices you require. ~ Maxie

POST 4Original post

sounds like you've got a lot of back seat action there  Seriously - MY2002 is when the big change came in the 996 line up as it was a significant facelift both cosmetically and range-wise. The 4S model was introduced and the front headlight design of the turbo was introduced across all models. Inside, a glovebox and cupholder were added, bose was made available and loads of other stuff changed.

POST 5Original post

Not all 996's have four airbags, mine doesn't have the airbags in the doors. Parkers.co.uk website might show when certain options were introduced, became standard equipment etc. I have used it to check various car specs over the years.

POST 6Original post

Is your 996 an "R" reg by any chance? Or more specifically is your car a "W" varient: WPOZZZ99Z[W] in chassis number? There were some quirks to the very first models which lasted less than a full model year for UK cars. The rest of the production lifetime had the specification as stated - apologies for the generalisation.

POST 7Original post

generalisation on 911uk  the mods will be along soon and send you to the naughty corner!

POST 8Original post

No probs GT4, without the bold wording I would have let it slide .
