Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Both PSM and ABS warning lights came on yesterday after some brief acceleration from standstill. There was also some loss of power. Both warning lights come back on each time the car is driven and there is now uneven idling and the engine has cut out a couple of times. The car is a 2002 996tt tip which has covered just over 30,000 miles. From previous threads it sounds like a fault with the MAF sensor. I'd be grateful if anyone can confirm my suspicions of a MAF problem. Thanks. Ceefor

POST 3Original post

both those light coming on could be a number of things. . . . for example i had the same light on when my alternator was knackered. get it plugged in and diagnosed.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the quick replies. I'll get it investigated further tomorrow although I've a feeling a new MAF is on the cards.

POST 5Original post

Have a look at the volt meter, if the alternator's knackered it won't be showing 14v, it'll probably be showing 11.5 or 12 ish. If things are fine it should show around 14v. Could be coil packs? The MAF is relatively cheap to buy and very easy to change (size 20? torx), so it's a goodone to do to rule it out at the very least. If that doesn't work get an auto-elec to have a look and diagnose the problem for you.

POST 7Original post

I had the same thing happen to mine and turned out to be a loose I/C hose thought i would mention it in case the Maf replacement doesnt help
