top? Phenomenal performance still nice cold interior at 100 outdoor temperatures. Rain? No troubles, it is a bit louder so if you like your music you'll need to damage your hearing level to listen to it.
3.4 direct injection and
PDK
2,100 RPM seventh speed 27 MPG! Wow never saw that coming. 93 octane gas only.
Sport Buckets? No back pain, no desire at all to change what is the perfect driving position for me, can't say enough. Awesome for a six hundred plus mile run, single driver. I love em!
Cons:
Sung to the tune "everybody loves somebody sometime", by Dean Martin. "Every charger thinks that he's a Lambo", nuff said. People coming at you with their single six Ruger .22 and you're thinking, you know I've got more firepower chief, go make an internet story about the
Spyder
you humiliated with your Camry. LOL
Severe oil leak develops 250 miles out. Happened to us as kids, my dad just kept topping it off. For any of you this happens to, don't wince at 8 a quart Love's prices, it's cheaper than an engine every time. This became more problematic as near the end I thought it would catch fire, somebody saved me.
Oil leak turns out to be the cannister, it's brand new as is the O ring, it shows no flaws, was correctly seated and no visual reason for a leak. Tested the car for two weeks, perfect. I still don't know what happened. It's FCP Euro so I can replace it but I'm strongly considering going LN now, spin on after this fiasco. All thoughts on the oil leak appreciated.
Overall I give the trip 8/10 and my trusty
Porsche
didn't strand me on a 100 degree day hundreds of miles out, in lower Carolina where they were holding a ticket writing festival yesterday.
Anyone with the LN socket they want to sell, PM me, I think I'm going this route. Disregard was just informed it's just a common socket.
Nice write-up! The wife and I are planning an Albuquerque-Southern Colorado jaunt with our
Cayman S
the end of this month.
I just ordered all the parts for LN conversion, I still don't understand what happened unless the check valve had something to do with it, the cannister and filter were both new. I've changed this system for ten years on this car and three on a
986
, never an issue. If you use
Mahle filters
and keep your car the LN pays for itself and that's the end of the plastic affair that somehow leaked at highway speeds and not for three months previous driving including 55, so I don't get it. Have a blast on the trip, you'll need to tell me if you concur on the Chargers.
LN Spin on convertor epilogue.
I was trained to always get under the car while it's running to check for oil leaks after every change. I have changed oil professionally and as a novice over fifty years. I've never had a spin on oil filter loosen. I checked the cannister after the change and before the trip, just goes to show you stuff happens, it loosened somehow. Was it the spring valve? I don't know but the assembly and filter were new, ironically the old parts were working flawlessly.
So after hours of gravity appreciation with brake cleaner and other fine products for my skin dripping on me, I still celebrated getting my car home without damage with knowledge, skin cancer, Leukemia? Meh, cost of repairs.
The convertor itself is well made but unless otherwise dictated by design needs, why the weight? It's three times as heavy as the plastic but given what happen I'm never going back. Putting a spin on filter on it is a snap, it doesn't leak and as far as "mods" go it's 100% reversible. Requiring a 26mm socket? A page right out of GE appliances, "oh the power cord? It's sold separately", blatant cash grab get a one at AutoZone for 8 bucks.
