Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Reported cause
I reckoned the Scoob was quicker to 60, but then it was the C2S as the Impreza ran out of steam.
Leading evidence: 'c2s as the impreza ran out of steam' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'c2s as the impreza ran out of steam' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check turbo boost' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
I also test drove an import (tweaked) Impreza with 340bhp, which would probably have just eclipsed the C2S overall.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi mate,
Yes thanks, picked up a mint one with the a few mods done already. Will get some pics up.
Roads have been wet ever since, but found it underwhelming so far in terms of performance compared to the scoob. Am sure it will be different in the dry and the wheels will no longer spin in 3rd!
Will have to get it on the dyno to make sure all is well before hitting the strip to see what it can do.
Feels very special to own and drive.
Thanks for all the advice, not sure if I ever PM'd you back, SN has been playing bonkers and timing out ever other PM.
Does this mean we have to start supplying Porsche parts now too?
"Roads have been wet ever since, but found it underwhelming so far in terms of performance compared to the scoob."
eh
...are you using 5th and 6th gear  or was your Scobby a lightweight 500Bhp beast?
Scoob only has 340bhp but I suspect is quicker on the strip than the 996 Turbo (De-catted, remapped etc) will be.
Difference with the scoob is you can use all the power virtually all the time, whether it's wet or dry, straight road or coming off a roundabout.
Underwhelming??
I found mine a bit underwhelming at first - not in the power but in the overall clinical feel.
It's taken me 6 months or so to get to like it, and now I can't keep out of it - snow, rain whatever!
If your spinning in the wet in 3rd I'd suggest you've not got the best tyres on or they're down to <4mm or so. Like mine.
I still can't get over the thumping power delivery my X50 gives, even now.
I did a London Meet with some Porsche chaps over on PH and have to say the route they did involved loads of roundabouts - I can't ever remember my old Scoob coming out of islands with as much planted power as my Pork does, just feeling the rear squat right down on it's haunches as you boot it out in 2nd....... sticking like glue to the tarmac.... magical. :thumb:
Will take a bit of time to get used to the weight distribution, power delivery etc.
Front tyres are a little on the low side, am looking forward to the weather to clearing up.
Underwhelming?? :?: hmmm , i used to have an sti about 2 1/2 years ago and had an M3 after that and i tell you what the beemer felt quicker so a turbo Underwhelming?? :?: :?:
Hi Bob,
Firstly welcome to the turbo owners club
I can't comment on the Scoob front, but I did come from a Noble. Now that felt really quick, brutal in fact at times and it was always a buzz to drive. I got the Turbo as I wanted something I could use more often etc. When I first got it I was a little gutted about the noise and it didn't feel quite as quick low down. But, and it's a big BUT, I can't get over how well the thing pulls after 60mph.
I think it just really hides its performance well. I've been out on quite a few PH runs with it and some runs with old Noble friends. Now they were shouting that they would kick my butt (Track of course), however they got a real surprise, lol. they couldn't believe how well it went through the twisties and how hard it pulled on over the 60 mark.
All in all I love it!!
Jim
Just to add my twopenneth...
I had a seecial edition Impreza with 320bhp. Test drove a 996 C2S 355bhp. I reckoned the Scoob was quicker to 60, but then it was the C2S as the Impreza ran out of steam. I also test drove an import (tweaked) Impreza with 340bhp, which would probably have just eclipsed the C2S overall.
BUT a 996TT (mine's an X50) is in a different league altogether.
Check your turbo boost... Actuators sometimes get stuck (especially if it's a hardly used 'mint' example). Should be showing 0.7-0.8 for standard cars, more if re-mapped....
But surely you drove it before you bought it? :dont know:
I test drove loads of Turbos before I bought one.
Each and every time I commented to the owner/dealer, "It just doesn't feel quick" (oh and the brakes dont work)
I think it's just the car, It's effortless, look at the speedo, Damm it's quick.
Take some time to get used to it, It's not like driving a 'production' car. You need to drive it hard and push that brake pedal. the turbo is, and always will be quicker than a Impreza. ('N' cars aside)
Joe public can drive a Impreza fast, It's designed for the masses. Maybe some driving lessons would help (thats not being rude) Silverstone do some great high speed driving courses...everyone can benifit from some expert tuition.
Floor the pedal at 100 and it picks up and throughs you back in your seat. Not underwhelming at all
