Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Fill /sanded and corrected' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'most important part of the set up' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Fill /sanded and corrected' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've just had a price to refurbish my wheels by a local specialist who want £405 for a drive in and leave the car job or £335 with me taking the wheels off and dropping them in. I'm a bit taken aback with the prices as the wheels aren't in that bad a condition but in their defence they do a fantastic job on the wheels and they've also offered to buy them off me if I buy the replacement wheels.
My dilema is whether to go for the refurbishment or replace the wheels with some I've spotted on Design911UK at a very competitive price.
If I decide to buy the new wheels are they going to fit ok in the sizes shown below. (I'll be re-fitting my almost new Pirelli Rosso's shown below)
FRONT > 8Jx18" ET50 - Tyres 225/40/18
BACK > 10Jx18" ET65 - Tyres 265/35/18
I have just been through your exact train of thought with replacement 18" wheels required.
I looked at the very set you are looking at and decided to pick up a used set of genuine porsche.
The set you have pictured look v nice but alas are not Porsche wheels so that was the basis of my decision

You refurb quotes are v high and they are taking the "peace" with the price for removing the wheels.Shop around
£30 to £40 per wheel as a favour is the fee I am paying.Yes I have to deliver loose and break the bead but there are no tyres on so no cost or sweat there. So shop around.
285 or 265?
Owners manual does quote 265/35 18 10j I am confused as well!(Page 167)
18"x10" wide wheels were fitted with 265 tyres on pre-facelift cars, and 285 on facelift models. Fronts were all 225, but pre-facelift wheels were 18"x7.5" wide, and facelift were 18"x8" wide.
I'd recommend sticking with your genuine wheels, as long as you're happy with the style. The refurb price seems high unless you have split rims, what you got?
If you do go aftermarket make sure you get the weights of the wheels and compare with OEM beforehand, extra unsprung weight can impact handling. Also make sure the centres will fit. Good info on weights here:

OEM sizes are written either side of the air valve. Based upon 2003, I reckon you'll have 18 x 8 ET52 fronts and 18 x 10 ET65 Rears. The ET 46 sounds like wide body fitment. If you've got 265 on the rear you should go for 285 next time round which is the size the car should have come with in the first place.
I had my old beemer alloys refurbed at a local refurber in Sunderland last year and paid £50 per wheel, I've been quoted £100+VAT per wheel to do my splt rims, which I think is expensive. I'm going to do some shopping around.
These were £100+VAT from Lepsons, but it was a multi-stage refurb.
First the car was swapped with 17" Carrera "courtesy" alloys.
De-tyred and the balance weights stripped and the centre caps removed.
The rims were split and ecid etched.
Any defects/kerbing filled/sanded and corrected.
Filler/levelling primer coat applied
Then first black gloss painted (to allow crome effect)
Then multiple layers built up using silver metallic (depending on how light/dark chrome effect is - the two parts were painted separately ).
Then top lacquer coat,
Baked as necessary.
Then reassembled (a machine aligns the two sections and the 20 bolts are torqued to spec)
Then tyred, valved and balanced.
The centre cap was masked and painted to match the centre wheel.
Wheels swapped back to car.
AFAIK it takes three days.
