Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

What is the thickness of new stock 996 pads? I'm looking at changing them--not sure if they're at 40% of pad left? Also, what kind of pads are stock on the '02 C2's--I thought it was Pagid's??

POST 2Original post

textar are the stock ones last I read but could be wrong.

POST 3Original post

rushing 23, How many miles do you have on your '02 C2? Why are you changing them and what do you plan on changing them to?

POST 4Original post

The pad thickness (for stock new pads) is: Front: approx. 12 mm Rear: approx. 10.5 mm The wear limit is 2 mm Stock pads are ATE Textar.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

boca996, I have about 17000 miles on my '02 C2. I'm not sure I'm changing them, as I have to check how much pad I have left. It is smart to change pads once there is 40% or less pad left--especially if you're doing a lot of threshold braking over a short period of time (less pad material transfers more heat to your brake fluid--can introduce fade much sooner). Brake system is one thing to definitely keep your eye on... I've heard very good things about Pagid type S (dark blue's) pads--good compromise between street and track pad. And Loren, thanks for the quick answer about the OEM pads.

POST 6Original post

In general, what is the approximate cost of a pad replacement and is this something normally done at a normal maintenance interval (i.e. 15k or 30k interval)?
