If it is a turbo check the turbos for oil leaks as mine was like that before i got some seals changed on them!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After driving on short and long runs there is a very strong burning smell that comes from the rear wheels area, i have had new discs and pads 12 months ago. This smell has only just arisen recently?
any help will be greatly appriciated
thanks JD
Very common after driving in damp conditions, road muck being kicked up on to mufflers and burning off. Of course I say this is common but no substitute for double checking to be sure.
There's nothing wrong. As already mentioned - grime thrown onto the mufflers by the rear wheels will be burning off. As we move towards summer and the ambient temperature increases (eventually), road tar starts to melt etc., the smell gets better :thumb:
If it's slightly oily hot smell it could be a minor leak from the cam cover on that side. If they leak, it can drip onto the manifold pipes.
Look under the back of the rear wheel up towards the engine side.
A spirited drive makes it leak a little bit more. It's more noticeable when you walk past the rear arch and the wind is in the right direction.
Not saying it is that for sure, it's just another possibility. As long as it doesnt pour out then there's no harm in leaving it.
