Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
I like to do my oil changes in the spring for a clean start, but one could argue to do it in the fall before putting it away -- to prevent any internal corrosion from any lingering acids in the used oil that contacts the metal.
Leading evidence: 'Clean start' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean start' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

This year my spyder is going to a well storied specialty shop for PDK fluid change but other than that I have managed all the scheduled maintenance.

But I don’t agree with these over the top oil changes, ex: in the fall before storage and then again in spring with basically zero miles on the oil.

I drive roughly 4000 miles/year and change the oil about once a year.

The idea of frequent oil changes on these motors, it’s cheap insurance on a super expensive motors to rebuild/fix/replace, whatever!!
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My Cayman is my daily driver, so lots of city driving. I drive roughly 4000 miles/year and change the oil about once a year. Should it be service more frequently?
Nope (as you've been told..)

Personally, I wouldn't even do the annual change. Modern oil doesn't "degrade" in the engine as attested by oil analysis companies. I have also tested this theory with UOAs and found that the oil doesn't have any issues sitting around in the engine.
Of course, you can certainly change it anyway if you want... I'm just saying I wouldn't bother.
I do it before the short winter layup but agree with Schwinn. Additionally, I do the 24 month brake flushes too but unless it's on a track I don't see why three would be an issue but I do two so the next owner knows everything is to Porsche specifications of service.

But I don’t agree with these over the top oil changes, ex: in the fall before storage and then again in spring with basically zero miles on the oil. I do it in spring, the oil is usually 800-1200 miles old (ya I know)… 4K should be good for a year.
I might switch to a Fall only change, store it over winter and then I’m ready to fly, so if there is moisture in the oil it’s out.. granted my garage is 65-70 all winter
I do it every January and do not drive it daily but at least weekly. So I would say 4-5k - you are certainly fine. That said - I could not tell where you are located - but if the temps are really high and dusty conditions etc it might be good to do it at 4-5 instead of 8-10k or yearly max, like many do. If it is garage kept in a temperate zone and drive it in regular (not stop and go) traffic at decent speeds like interstate, even better. So I would not worry - Porsches are indeed tough.
Tons of threads on this. I'm strictly a Mobil 1 guy for both my cars and motorcycles, and I'm thinking that shorter intervals than once a year for a DD is an absolute waste of money, time, and creates unnecessary petroleum waste for the environment. I'm also from the school of thought that punting to 2 years (assuming non-crazy mileage) isn't a crime either as modern synthetics are pretty good. I like to do my oil changes in the spring for a clean start, but one could argue to do it in the fall before putting it away -- to prevent any internal corrosion from any lingering acids in the used oil that contacts the metal. The way these cars are built, I doubt any serious damage would be done by just sitting. The best thing you can do for your car is get out there and drive; it'll blow off any residual moisture from sitting. Just my two cents.
When a car sits (certain motors are worse) but when all the oil is on the bottom condensation will happen up on top and starts to weather wear items etc etc… these motors you just can’t win, there super durable until there not..
the Metzger and turbo engines and newer models have better internals.. the first 10yrs of these water cooled motors, Porsche should really be ashamed… some of the crap they put in those motors and let the consumer find out if they are worthy or not… shame!
Contrary to Porsche specifications of service, the Stealerships ignore science and common sense in order to maximize their service revenue from unsuspecting and uninformed owners. I for once DIY everything I possible can that is relevant/pertinent. Cheers to everyone who does their own research. In the age of information, ignorance is a choice.
I enjoy maintaining the car as my priority hobby, it also makes it affordable to keep on fixed income. Even with my home, I have done basic wiring, a lot of plumbing professional level painting and restoration work myself. I'll bet some other members do this too. This year my spyder is going to a well storied specialty shop for PDK fluid change but other than that I have managed all the scheduled maintenance. My stuff is getting old though, finding a part for a 22 year old Husqvarna mower was a challenge. 😆
