Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi all. I need rear pads on both sides. I mostly do autocross and street driving although I am doing a DE at Watkins Glen in late July. What’s a decent set of padsL There are so many to choose from. Are Bosch pads ok? Thx.

POST 2Original post

Id go with Textar/Padgid or ATE. Porsche usually brands their pads as PORSCHE but they are most likely made by one of these companies. I use Textar on my 11 Cayman Brembo is another higher end choice

POST 3Original post

My 987.1 Cayman S came with Textar pads. They dust like crazy, and have a very disappointing initial bite. They are quiet though. I will be flushing the brake fluid (using Hawk 600 fluid), adding Goodridge stainless lines, as well a new set of Hawk HP 5.0 pads all around. I will give impressions once it is all installed. I have had good results with those pads on other cars. I can't vouch for their track ability, but they are great for street and autocross. They seem to be pretty quiet as well.

POST 4Original post

Ditto to PNW987. The Textar pads are just ok while the Hawk 5.0 HPS are a nice improvement. Of course, the Hawk cost a bit more. I would not use either for the track though as they are not designed for the higher temperatures generated at the track. For the track I would go with Pagid, PFC or Ferrodo. And I would also use a higher temp brake fluid for the track. Motul or Castrol. It’s hard to find a street pad that’s also good for the track. Track pads will squeal at lower temperatures typical of street driving while street pads can’t handle the higher temperatures at the track. Some folks say the Ferrodo DS2500 is a good compromise pad, but I haven’t tried them myself.
