Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Everyone I've put my deposit down now on my first ever Porsche after years of waiting and consideration. Having owned cars such as a Lotus Elise, S2000, 2x Westfields and various fast daily drivers, I'm really looking forward to 'proper' 'grown up' supercars. It's a 996 Turbo TipS. Silver with Black Leather (standard) seats. 41k miles and full OPC service history. NO satnav (didn't want it - it's useless) but has got small silver interior pack, parking sensors and Bose. Also has heated seats which got the  from my wife. It's in fantastic condition with very very few marks on it anywhere, just the odd stone chip as you'd expect. Cambridge OPC are selling me the car and they've been excellent. Have got a great deal with plenty of haggle-room so I feel very satisfied. OPC warranty for 12 months so worry-free motoring for a little while at least! Couple of pics attached, I suspect I'll be back down there next weekend to take more photos and see it again - there's no way I can manage 2.5 weeks without seeing it again. I am due to collect on 31st March - the longest wait of my life. It still hasn't really sunk in yet - I remember riding my bike around with my friends when I was 8 years old pretending to be a 911 Turbo or 959 and my mates were always Ferrari F40s - loosers :floor: My medium-long term wish list starts now then... first on the list is red front seat belts :worship: Some pics for you all.

POST 3Original post

Yes, the waiting is the hard part. It looks beautiful. Just wait until you are driving it. 8)

POST 10Original post

Very nice, Had a quick look at it myself.... OPC Cambridge? Did you find them helpful? In your other post you asked about cruise, OPC don't offer a cruice upgrade on the 996. It looks easy to do, I've already bought the 4 lever column stalk, then you just need to add power to it, a wire to the dash and a couple to the control module, then get the cruise swithed on. Check with OPC Cambridge that doing it will not invaildate your warranty. I suspect it will :dont know: would be good to know also. Welcome, great choice on the TipS, did you try any manuals? James.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes OPC Cambridge. They've been first class so far - no complaints. I'll ask them about the cruise / warranty thing during next week. I have tried a manual 996 TT yes. I found it fine but I really felt (after driving the Tip) that they are both as good as each other, just in different ways. The fact that my wife can drive it easily with it being a Tip is a real bonus too.

POST 12Original post

Adding cruise control will definitely 100% invalidate your warranty. It's frustrating, because you can retrofit them on the 997 (because Porsche Germany have issued a service bulletin on how to do it - but they didn't for the 996 even though the change is very similar). You can tell it's been added because 1) the option codes won't match and 2) you can see it on the wiring loom. I understand Wrightune can retrofit fit them at a very reasonable price, as long as you have egas/fly by wire throttle (eg. face lift). Cheers.
