Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

On the 997 that is happening after a week and if my memory is right for the 996 is 5 days but check the manual on that

Best way to awake it is to open/close the door with the key and then use the remote.

after trying it loads of times even using the spare!!
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Tried to open the car with remote key today but nothing happened even
after trying it loads of times even using the spare!! It's not been driven for about five days so thinking the battery might be flat I opened the door with the key to jump start it, the alarm started but I manage to switch it off using the remote, put the key in the ignition and it started first time no probs?
Any thoughts on what happened would be appreciated cheers G
Very likely car goes into sleep mode to save the battery. Best way to awake it is to open/close the door with the key and then use the remote. On the 997 that is happening after a week and if my memory is right for the 996 is 5 days but check the manual on that

Yeah, it'll be the sleep mode issue. I had the same concern when I first got my 996.
Basically, you just have to open the door with the key and get the engine started asap or the alarm will go off.
That's what it is sure enough. And there is a neater answer. Unlock the car using the key but do not open the door. Remove key, press locking button on remote. Then press again and enter car as normal.
Or something like that - I do still set the alarm off every once in a while, usually at 0600 when I'm trying to tiptoe!
Just found a few lines about this in the handbook page14 (the remote control standby function switches off after 5 days) it says switching on the engine reactivates the remote, but no mention about the alarm going off!
Can you imagine coming back from a holiday and the car wont start, it's a great function when your aware of it, but they should go into more detail in the handbook and have a footnote under batteries etc.
I got the car on the 13 Feb and haven't stopped smiling since it ticks all the boxes.
Thanks for the advice again really appreciated
