Unfortunately a certain OPC managed to break my CD changer during the 111 point check (which is supposed to check things are working, not break them).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
I ma having problems burning a CD(s) to work with the standard 6CD changer.
Please can someone tell me what format, bit rate (KBps?) and program you have used to successfully burn a CD with your own songs on and get it to play?
Thanks
Interesting. Just last week I had some problems with a CD not being "seen" by the changer (shows it as an empty slot). The CD in question is one of those ones which starts a program when you put it in your PC - offering you to sign up for special offers and so on - instead of just playing. Could this be the same underlying issue that the changer doesn't like data discs?
I've found the same problems playing audio CDs created from itunes etc. Some play, some don't, some play randomly. I think it's a combination of CD manufacturer and burn rate. It's the same for domestic DVD machines and certain disc manufacturers. I've noticed my incar CD player particularly doesn't like CDs created on a Mac but on a PC it's more likely to play... :dont know:
The CD changer is very fussy about recorded disks.
It's generally only a direct DC to CD copy that I could use in the changer (however, in the head unit pretty much anything works, mp3 excepted).
My CD changer also started playing up and not recognising CDs in the changer (even though they were original).
Unfortunately a certain OPC managed to break my CD changer during the 111 point check (which is supposed to check things are working, not break them).
My understanding is that CDs are all burned to the same standard (as this enables them to be played by all CD players) so you shouldn't need to worry about bit rates etc.
The most likely explanation is that the player doesn't like the particular brand of blank CD you're using. Price doesn't always reflect quality or compatability here, it's more a matter of finding the right combination. If you're having problems then find a CD that's made from a different manufacturer or out of a different dye and give that a shot until you find one that works.
I am hearing you all!
Still would like someone to tell me a successful CD brand, burning program! thanks all again
PS I dont have CD head unit, just the tape
I pinched some of my kids cd's and they work fine in the changer even burning direct from itunes.
They are ASDA own brand single use, single sided 52X speed 700mb
Have heard that the burn rate could be an issue but I'm no expert.
I burned some CDs for my dad ( Vectra) - wouldnt work. Transferred the files to my mums elderly Windows XP PC and burned them from that - worked fine.
Suggests to me that the problem might be due to more modern software compressing the files into a more efficient format that older head units can't read?
I've not got a cd changer so can't comment directly on this BUT I've had loads of experience in making backup DVD navigation discs for my BMW which is a real art and follows the same principals.
Burn the discs as slow as you can - it does make a difference. 1X if you can as the full power of the burning laser will be used on the disc and doing it slower means far fewer errors.
Only use high quality discs such as "Verbatim 52x CD-R 700mb 80min Inkjet Printable - 50 Pack Spindle" -

Not cheap but worth the extra - read the reviews.
If this combo doesn't work you might want to update the firmware on your CD/DVD Drive as it may have some updates that will help with compatability.
Make sure your screensaver is switched off and you've got nothing else running on the PC too (no email, browser etc) as these can interrupt the perfect data flow onto the disc during burning.
Will.
